Sleep is not just something we 'should be' doing every day,
to recharge our batteries and give us the energy we need to
get through the day.
The 'mechanics' of sleep is an actual science and, like a lot of
science, it's complicated. But, to simplify things, let's just say that
sleep is THE fundamental cornerstone of health and wellbeing.
And we literally cannot function properly without it.
That's it, in a nutshell.
If you're not sleeping properly, it will eventually impact
EVERYTHING else in your life; your work, your relationships,
your confidence, your performance and your safety.
Ongoing sleep deprivation can literally shave years off people's
lives, through a combination of negative effects that cause
direct harm to body and brain. Research shows that
once sleep deprivation becomes chronic and long-standing,
it directly affects the brain and impacts on functioning in
very significant ways;
* impaired memory
* impaired reaction times
* loss of concentration
* brain 'fog'
* regulation of hormones
* regulation of mood
* damage to the immune system
* compromised ability to heal from emotional and physical illness
And that's just to name a few.
Ongoing sleep disorder can trigger the onset of a variety of
neurological degenerative diseases such as Parkinsons, Alzheimers
and early-onset dementia. The quality of sleep is what drives good
or bad long-term health. But, the good news is that even if you have
suffered with sleep deprivation for a very long time...
THE PROBLEM CAN BE FIXED.

SORT YOUR SLEEP
Sleep problems can occur for all sorts of reasons. Something as simple
and short as a long-haul flight, or even a stay in hospital, can be enough
to trigger a change in circadian rhythms that can't be quickly resolved. Physical pain, emotional trauma, worry, grief, and a host of other real-life situations that can occur without much warning can seriously mess with
your sleep. In a lot of cases, short-term sleep issues can be resolved with
a few catch-up nights, but ... if you've discovered that your sleep is out of
kilter and has been for more than a few weeks, and nothing you've done
to try and fix it seems to have worked, you may be developing
a Sleep Disorder.
Sleep deprvation is surprisingly comon. Millions of people all over the
world are suffering through lack of seep, and many simply accept it
and live with it for YEARS! But that means they're not living their best
life, and nobody needs to settle for that. You give your body
the best chance of working to keep you strong and healthy
- and living LONGER -
if you get enough good sleep.
That is the reality, and I can I can help you achieve it.
And here's the thing: everyone's sleep issues are unique to themselves.
The causes, forms and management of sleep disorder for every single
person depends on their own very personal circumstances, so a 'one size
fits all' approach to fixing it simply will not work. There are different forms
of insomnia that produce different issues, and need different tools.
The first step to determining how YOUR sleep can be sorted is an
assessment of how, when and why it started, and what contributing
factors are significant.
I can offer you a personalized health consultation and an individually
tailored coaching program to help you learn to sleep properly again
- not just for now, but for LIFE.
I'm a Psychologist and Sleep Coach who understands the 'mechanics' of
sleep and what has caused it to go off track in YOUR case. The skills I can
teach you, to get things back on track again, are easy, life-long, and tailored
to meet your specific unique needs. I will guide you through the process of learning to sleep properly again.
All you need is the commitment to making it happen.

SORT YOUR SLEEP
"After nineteen years of disrupted sleep(yes, really), I wasn't at all sure if Maxine's sleep programme could help me, but I was overjoyed to find that it worked. I can't describe the sheer bliss of getting a full night's sleep every night. I now have real energy and focus again. Thank you Maxine, you have literally changed my life."
FRANCESCA C, North Wales
"Thanks, Maxine. We would have been lost without your help, not just with my daughter's sleep issues, but also when you recommended the intolerance test, which has sorted her stomach problems too."
PAUL M, South Wales
"Oh, Maxine! The box of "goodies" was gorgeous, and I can't believe how well your programme worked! I'd given up hope of ever beating this gosh-darned insomnia but I'm sleeping at least six hours a night now. Sometimes even more, and I feel like a different person!"
PATRICIA G, Sydney, Australia
'I was relying on drugs to help me sleep and it was starting to worry me a lot because I couldn't get out of bed in the mornings. I also had problems with my digestion and finding out that I had a lactose intolerance was the first step in feeling better. Maxine's programme was a big commitment for me but it worked. I've stopped taking the sleeping tablets and after changing my diet too I feel so much better."
ANDY D, Worcester England
I undertook your sleep protocol after a couple of years of poor sleep, which had started to affect me at work. At the end of it, I was sleeping a lot better, and I now know what to do if it starts to slide again. Thanks for helping me."

Sleep is the most important factor in mental and physical health and wellbeing. Research shows that people who suffer from debilitating long-term insomnia have a shorter lifespan.
Sleep deprivation decreases productivity at work, it significantly slows reaction times (putting you at risk of harm), and it also impairs communication, which can cause problems in your relationships. It also reduces concentration, memory, clarity and perception, and reduces mental energy. It interferes with hormone regulation and slows the immune system's ability to heal the body from a variety of wounds and illness.
We are designed, as human miracles of science, to achieve a healing level of sleep, but if this is not achieved, over a long period of time, the body's organs cannot function at optimal level. This significantly increases the risk of generalised inflammation and the development of neurodegenerative and other diseases, and shortens the human lifespan.
In short, if you want to live a long and healthy life, or even just increase your chances of being healthier and fitter, you have to get enough sleep.
If all you have is a short period of sleeplessness (e.g. just a few days), probably yes. A few early nights, good hydration, good 'sleep hygiene' and a gentle alkaline diet will help a lot, to get things back on track. But, if your insomnia has been going on for more than two or three weeks, and/or if you have a history of long-term sleep disruption that has returned or feels like it might, the issue is more complex.
This is because the brain is being adversely affected, which will start to have a negative impact in important areas of your life; e.g. work, relationships, safety. It's important to remember that your sleep issues are unique and specific to YOU, so what works for someone else may not work for you, as a remedy. Professional support at this stage will prevent sleep problems from developing or worsening.
It depends on what kind of insomnia you have. There are different kinds, that affect different people in different ways, at different times, and for different reasons. So the first step is determining exactly what YOUR contributing factors are, and tailoring a holistic plan to target your specifically identified needs. This is done with a comprehensive initial assessment which takes 60-90 minutes to get a full picture of everything that might be a contributory factor. Then you will have an explanation for why and how your sleep problems first started, and a solid plan for fixing the problem.
Again, it depends on contributing factors but, on average, it takes 66 days for the brain to 'drop' an old habit and assimilate a new one, so a sleep program typically runs for two months. Even a very long-standing pattern of sleep disruption can be fixed within this timeframe. However, if your insomnia is found to have more complicated psychological drivers (for example PTSD or deep-seated trauma) a slightly longer program (of three months) is recommended.
Your initial assessment will provide explanations for you about your insomnia, and what the steps are for you to overcome it. You will be given a set of products designed to support your initial Week One 'kick-start' to better sleep,' and you will be receive regular support calls, where your progress will be assessed and changes made to your program if appropriate.
Over time, you will be encouraged to take control of the program and any adjustments yourself, and at the end you will hae the necessary skills and self-awareness to know how to maintain a good levele of quality sleep.
A full commitment to the program, and to following its guidelines, is required. You will be wasting your own time and money if you don't make that commitment. You'll be invited, at every stage of communication, to share your experience of how it is working and any concerns that you have as it progresses, so that any appropriate changes can be made to enable you to complete it successfully.
Provided you commit fully to the program, and follow it as guided, you will have the skills to recognise when your sleep might be again going out of kilter and you will know what steps you need to take to bring it back into line. Once the brain is retrained for good sleep, in the appropriate ways, any rebalancing that's needed is something you will easily be able to do yourself.

In a post-Covid world, medical services are stretched to the absolute limit, and many people are falling through the cracks in a health system that is no longer capable of supporting them the way it used to.
It is clear that few of us can expect the same level or quality of service we used to get,
before the world changed.
But the world HAS changed, and the need is now greater than ever before, for ALL of us to take more responsibility for our OWN health and wellbeing.
If the people we've relied on to fix or maintain us when we're broken are no longer able to do it, we MUST do it ourselves. Making the decision to maintain or reclaim our health MUST start with our own actions.
And it is my firm and unshakeable belief that it is far better to do whatever we can to stay well, than wait until we are sick, and expect someone else to fix us.
What if they can't?
We need to put our OWN fence at the top of the cliff and make it as strong as we can because, if we fall off it,
the ambulance we need might come too late -
if it even turns up at all.
